Frederick C. Dean
Professor of Wildlife Management (retired) and
Principal Research Associate
Department of Biology and Wildlife and Institute of Arctice Biology
University of Alaska Fairbanks
Current Research Interests
Primarily the ecology of brown/grizzly bears in Alaska, especially in
Denali National Park and Preserve: habitat use,
behavior with respect to habitat and in relation to human activity, and
to a lesser extent some aspects of population ecology. I am also interested
in landscape-level boreal forest ecology as well as broad
questions of park and wildland management policies.
Current Status with Respect to New Graduate Students
I am unlikely to become involved with new graduate students except
as a supplementary member of an advisory committee.
